Nick's and John's Bannockburn Vegas Tournament

by Nick Butcher

Once again I looked forward to going, particularly as I had enjoyed the last time so much. However, I was aware that this competition presented more of a challenge. This was confirmed from our practice shoot we had on Friday 12 Feb!

Nick on the Line

John on the Line at full draw

John had a very respectable score of 451, so all was not lost for the club.
There was a slight difference from the last Portsmouth shoot as we had to  adhere to GNAS dress code, I must admit that I found it gave it a sense of occasion which added to the enjoyment. John and myself were shooting and Jackie was there to give moral support.
We started with the usual brief regarding the Vegas rules, scoring and line etiquette, then went straight into the six sighters. I scored very well on the sighters but, sadly, was unable to keep this up for the next sixty arrows and at the end of the tournament I could only achieve a grand total of 190 points. Strange I thought, as I had scored 364 on the practice shoot on the Friday!

Regardless of this tale of woe, I still look forward to the next tournament where I hope to greatly improve!
